Change to Math Competency Requirement

January 6, 2011

Effective Winter Term 2011, the General Education requirement for Math Competency (MC) has changed.

WSU will now accept transfer courses to meet math competency. Courses must be equivalent to MAT 1000 or higher and have a grade of C or higher. Transfer courses equal to MAT 1XXX, MAT 1110, MAT 1120, and MAT 1500 (or higher) in the Equivalency Tables at transfercredit.wayne.edu will be accepted, providing they were completed with a grade of C or better (a C- will not satisfy requirement).  Previously transferred courses are now accepted.  If you took a Math class at another institution you can check your STARS Degree Audit on Pipeline to see whether your previous course now meets Math Competency.

A second change is that courses completed at WSU in fall 2011 or later must have a grade of C or higher to meet the math competency.
