Changing Grades

The following is a set of instructions on how to either submit a grade change or how to approve a grade change, if you are a designated approver.

How to Submit a Grade Change

1) Log on to WSU Pipeline at http://pipeline.wayne.edu using your WSU AccessID and password. Click on the “Faculty” tab.  

2) In the “Faculty Services” window, click the “Grade Change” link in the Teaching menu.

3) Select the class for which you need to submit grade changes.

 

4) The class list will appear for the class you have selected. Select the student(s) that you would like to change a grade for and click the “Continue” button at the bottom of the page. Yes, you can select multiple students. You may notice that some students can not be selected. Through this process, we are only allowing grade changes that are less than a year old. Exceptions would be a “Y” grade at the graduate level. You have five years to change a “Y” grade. At the Pharmacy Professional level, you have six years. Also, if a student has graduated since they took your class, you will be unable to change the grade. In short, if you can’t select the student, the grade is either too old or the student has graduated.

5) Select a new grade and reason for the grade change. By selecting “Other” in the reason field, you will need to enter a reason in the free-form text field that will appear. Once you’re done, click the “Submit” button. A confirmation page will appear for your records.

 

  

How to Approve a Grade Change

Due to requests made by several colleges, part-time faculty will be required to secure approval for any grade change they perform on a student. This process will be triggered by an email that will be sent to the person designated as an approver, usually a department chair, notifying the approver they have grade changes waiting for them to review. The approval process is quite simple.

1) Log on to WSU Pipeline at http://pipeline.wayne.edu using your WSU AccessID and password. Click on the “Faculty” tab.

2) On your “Faculty” page, you will see your workflow worklist channel on the far right. In here, you will see the list of approvals that are waiting for you.

3) Select the grade change you wish to review. You will be presented with a form, giving more specific information regarding the requested change. You can review this form, and select the “Approved” or “Denied” radio button. You also have the option of submitting comments, which will be sent back to the person who initiated the grade change, if you deny the change request. Once you have finished, make sure you select the “Complete” button.

Once you select “Complete,” your part is done!
